There has been a lot of focus on BPA (Bisphenol A) the last few years after some experts raised a concern about the effects the toxin can have on our health. BPA is a key component in a few different plastic types, for example, Polycarbonate which is a popular choice for manufacturers. Polycarbonate is often used in appliances where strength, durability, and clarity is needed.
Unfortunately, Polycarbonate breaks down over time which releases more and more BPA. High temperatures will speed up the aging process of the plastic which makes Polycarbonate not suitable for electric cordless water kettles. If you are looking for a way through which you can avoid this, you should go out and check Diamond Rock Spring Water.
You should also know that not all plastic types contain BPA, the type 1 (PET), type 2 (HDPE), type 4 (LDPE), type 5 (Polypropylene), and type 6 (Polystyrene) are completely free from BPA. Luckily manufacturers are starting to use these BPA-free plastic types instead of the cheap Polycarbonate. If you don’t fancy the three electric kettles I have picked out below I have a selection of reviews of other electric cordless kettles without any BPA. Aroma AWK-270 7-cup electric kettle
The Aroma AWK-270 is a very nice stainless steel kettle that comes in four different colors and one in polished steel finish. The four-color coatings you can choose from are white, black, blue, and our favorite red. The kettle housing can hold up to 7 cups (1.7 liters) and seems to be very sturdy and durable. The concealed heating element is powerful and will boil a full kettle in just a few minutes. The automatic shut-off function will switch the kettle off when the water comes to a rolling boil. A completely cordless serving is ensured due to the 360-degrees swivel base. This kettle is worth a closer look.
Pros
+ Fast.
+ Well built.
+ Nice color options.
+ BPA-free.
Cons
– Heavy.
Hamilton Beach 40894 7.2 cup kettle
The Hamilton Beach 7.2 cup kettle is very cute with its old stove-top look. I fell in love with this kettle pretty fast due to the retro look and nice red finish. If you don’t like the red finish, I am pleased to inform you that this kettle is available in polished stainless steel (Hamilton Beach 40893) as well. The round stainless steel housing is sturdy and has a capacity of a total of 7.2 cups (1.7 liters). I had two comments about this kettle, the first comment is about the handle which is in the way when you want to fill the kettle from the kitchen tap. I found it easier to just fill the kettle through the spout. This brings us to the second comment I had about this Hamilton Beach kettle, there is no spout filter. If you love the retro look, this might just be the kettle for you.
Pros
+ Beautiful design.
+ Fast.
+ BPA-free.
Cons
– Handle design not optimal.
– No spout filter.
